2013年8月27-31日、第53回ヨーロッパ地域学会（ERSA）がイタリアのパレルモにて開催されました。"Regional Integration: Europe, the Mediterranean and the World Economy" （「地域統合：欧州、地中海、世界経済」）のテーマで行われた同学会に所長藤田昌久が出席し、"Regional Integration and Cultures in the Age of Knowledge Creation－The Story of the Tower of Babel Revisited－" （「知識創造時代における地域統合と文化－ バベルの塔の物語再考－」）という標題で基調講演を行いました。
