Overview
Due to population decline and population aging, raising labor productivity has become an urgent challenge. At the same time, the “America First” policy of the Trump administration and the deepening confrontation between Western countries, including Japan, and the China–Russia bloc have heightened the importance of analyzing economic security issues and Japan’s position in the future international division of labor.
This project aims to construct the foundational databases and conduct the economic analyses needed to address the above challenges by combining the following three groups of research activities:
- 1)Updating the Japan Industrial Productivity (JIP), Prefectural Industrial Productivity (R-JIP), and China Industrial Productivity (CIP) databases and conducting economic analyses using these data
- 2)Comparison analysis of the industrial accumulation of China, India and Indonesia, and conducting simulation analyses on economic security using updated data
- 3)Analyzing productivity and economic security using firm-level data
March 2, 2026 - August 31, 2028
(During the research project period, the research activity period is set from March 2, 2026, to February 29, 2028, and the data usage reporting period is set from March 1, 2028 to August 31, 2028.)
