Overview
The postwar global economic order and world trade system are being destabilized by the United States’ unilateralism and extractive transactional approach, as well as by the rise of China as a major power. East Asia is a complex region characterized by diverse political systems, economic disparities, and geopolitical tensions. Under these circumstances, there is a pressing need to establish international cooperation mechanisms that can support stability and prosperity both within and outside the region.
This research examines how advanced countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan can cooperate with one another and with emerging Asian nations and regions such as ASEAN and India. By integrating area studies, research on international institutions, and analysis of international negotiations, it aims to propose a cooperative model that spans three domains: economy, security, and environment.
