Prior to his current position, Atsushi Nakajima served as Senior Managing Executive Officer & Chief Economist, Mizuho Research Institute, Ltd. (2004-2011); Executive Officer, Chief Economist & General Manager of Research Division, Mizuho Corporate Bank, Ltd. & Executive Officer, Chief Economist of Mizuho Research Institute, Ltd. Bio

Takuya Hirai is former Minister in charge of Information Technology Policy and former Minister of State for the "Cool Japan" Strategy, the Intellectual Property Strategy, Science and Technology Policy and Space Policy. He is a Japanese politician and a Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) member of the House of Representatives in the Diet. A native of Takamatsu, Kagawa, and graduate of Sophia University, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 2000. Since then has been elected 7 times consecutively.
Career:
Chairman of Public Relations Headquarters, LDP; Chairman of the Special Mission Committee on IT Strategy, LDP; Director of the Economy, Trade and Industry Division, LDP; Senior Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; Director of the Internet Media Division, LDP; and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee for the House of Representatives.

NISHIYAMA Keita

NISHIYAMA Keita (Director-General, Commerce and Information Policy Bureau, METI / Consulting Fellow, RIETI)

Bio

Keita Nishiyama was appointed as Director-General of the Commerce and Information Policy Bureau at Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in July 2018. Previously, he served in concurrent roles as General Manager of the Management Reform Support Office, Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation, and Director of Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) Holdings. Prior to this, Mr. Nishiyama served as Deputy Director-General of the Economic and Industrial Policy Bureau.
Mr. Nishiyama assumed the office of Director-General of the Secretariat for the TEPCO Management and Finance Investigation Task Force, Cabinet Secretariat (2011) and he served as Executive Officer of the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ, 2009). During his previous role as Director of the Industrial Structure Policy Division, he oversaw reform of Japan's regional medical care system.
Mr. Nishiyama graduated from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law and the University of Oxford's Philosophy, Politics and Economics Course. He was born in 1963.

HIRANO Yoichiro

HIRANO (Pina) Yoichiro (Chairman, Blockchain Collaborative Consortium)

Bio

Yoichiro (Pina) Hirano is the Founder and CEO of Asteria (Former Infoteria) Corporation since 1998. He also serves as a director, chairman of the board. In just 8 years, he led the company from start-up to successful IPO company at Tokyo Stock Exchange and then received a Japanese EAI Market Share No.1 for 13 years in a row.
Beside of being the Founder and CEO, he taught Management of Tech-startups at Aoyama Gakuin University Graduate Program from 2008 to 2011 as a visiting professor. Prior to founding Infoteria, he led Product Marketing and Strategic Planning for 10 years at Lotus Development Corporation, which is now a part of IBM Corporation. Before Lotus, he had developed one of the best-selling Japanese word processer as a Software Engineer.
Although he was accepted in Kumamoto University in Japan, he chose to drop out of the college for the huge opportunity in the innovative software product marketspace. That decision has been proven as the right one because of the successful public corporation he runs today.

Bio

Makoto YANO is President and Chief Research Officer of Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI); Project Professor of Institute of Economic Research, Kyoto University (KIER); Visiting Professor of Chubu University Academy of Emerging Sciences; and Professor by Special Appointment of Sophia University. He served as President of Japanese Economic Association (2008-2009).
He holds a Ph.D. in economics from University of Rochester.
His current research interests are dynamics, law and economics, and market quality.

Fabian VOGELSTELLER

Fabian VOGELSTELLER (Founder and Chief Architect at LUKSO, Ethereum Developer and Author of ERC 20)

Bio

Fabian is a developer and thought leader on Blockchain technology. He has built many user and developerfacing projects for the Ethereum Foundation, including the Ethereum Mist browser, the Ethereum Wallet and web3.js - the Ethereum's space most used JavaScript library.
Together with Vitalik Buterin, he proposed the ERC20 token standard, which initiated the world ICO wave and redefined investment and crowd ownership as we know it. Today Fabian is leading the concept, design, and development of the LUKSO Blockchain.

Steven PU

Steven PU (Founder & CEO, Taraxa.io)

Bio

Steven is an entrepreneur and strategy consultant. Prior to Taraxa, he co-founded multiple venture-funded startups in wireless mesh networks, mobile health, and healthcare services. He was also a Director at Monitor Deloitte's China office, spearheading the firm's digital strategy practice, advising senior executives of multinational corporations on how large organizations could effectively capture innovation and respond quickly to market disruptions.
Steven holds undergraduate and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

Bio

Since 2017, Yoshio Kishimoto has been Director General, International Policy, SME Agency, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. He joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in 1985 and held many positions through his career, including Director, Environment and Economy Office, Industrial Science and Technology Policy and Environment Bureau (2003-); Director, Business Support Division, SME Agency (2007-); Director General, Kyushu Bureau of METI (2014-) and Vice President of RIETI(2017-).
He received a master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University in 1992. He is also an author of Next Blockchain recently punlished.

Sei Kato has been a group manager of Toyota Motor Corporation since 2018. He gained his B.Eng., and M. Eng. Degrees from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1997, 1999, and subsequently he received his Ph.D. in Mathematical Science from the University of Tokyo in 2002 on statistical properties of fluid turbulence. In 2002, he became a research scientist at IBM Research – Tokyo, where he was engaged in research on the extreme value analysis and multi-agent systems. In 2012, he has moved to the Business Consulting Division of IBM, and lead consulting projects in the area of business creation, data analytics, and marketing strategy planning. In 2018, he has moved to Toyota Motor Corporation to lead the development of connected services based on machine learning technologies. Born in Tokyo and lives in Kamakura. Started career in NHK Publishing from 1996 as a book editor. Responsibilities included acquisition, editing, and marketing of translated books. In addition to the best sellers FREE, SHARE, MAKERS, and The Singularity Is Near, which captured the paradigm shift of the digital society, titles that handled included: ZERO to ONE, awarded the 2015 Business Book Award; The Zero Marginal Cost Society, winner of many awards including Amazon.com's "Best Book of the Year; and, The Inevitable. William Metcalfe is a Co-founder of Curvegrid, a blockchain software startup based in Tokyo, Japan.
Previously, William was the Chief Technology Officer of Gilt Japan, after joining in New York City as an early employee. William helped grow Gilt from its first order to become one of the leading ecommerce sites. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Computer Science.

Founded LONGHASH Japan and RECIKA in 2018, Chris has a broad range of business management and investment experience. He is the co-founder and CEO of Leland Capital, a cross-border investment company. He was formerly the COO / CIO Yixing SCM (a logistics provider), a consultant at Accenture, and co-founder of multiple ventures. Starting in 2013, Chris was one of the early investors of Bitcoin and Ethereum. To promote the understanding of blockchain's true value, he joined the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry's blockchain research team. He received a B.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University in 2004.
