The 20th RIETI Highlight Seminar

How to Surf the Waves of Financial Globalization: Will the ongoing massive U.S.-triggered stock losses around the world lead to yet another crisis? How should we address global financial instability and what does the future hold for the global economy?

Announcement

It has been ten years since the breakout of the Global Financial Crisis of 2008. This US-epicentered crisis left significant impacts on the global economy where interlinkages of markets and economies had gotten tighter due to financial globalization. Despite the crisis, financial globalization has kept proceeding, making economies and markets even more interdependent on each other. Increasingly, many economies are subject to the economic conditions and policies of the key economies, such as the U.S. and Europe. In such an environment, it is extremely difficult to manage economic policies. In this Highlight Seminar, we will discuss how difficult it can be to manage economic policies in a globalized environment and what would be solutions to "surf the waves of financial globalization."
