RIETI Faculty Fellow SHIMIZU Hiroshi has received the Science and Technology Award (Research Category) under the FY2026 Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Awards for Science and Technology. This award is presented to individuals who have conducted highly original research or development with a significant potential to contribute to the advancement of science and technology in Japan.
The award recognizes Professor Shimizu’s outstanding achievements in innovation research on general-purpose technologies. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) annually presents the Science and Technology awards to individuals who have produced distinguished accomplishments in scientific and technological research and development, as well as in activities promoting public understanding of science and technology. The goal of these awards is to increase motivation among researchers and professionals in the science and technology fields and to contribute to raising the overall standard of science and technology in Japan.
