On 18 October, Dr. Shiro Patrick Armstrong from The Australian National University received the Award of Excellence, the highest honor of the 20th Nakasone Yasuhiro Award. As a leading economist in the Asia-Pacific region, Dr. Armstrong has been instrumental in promoting cross-border cooperation, particularly between Japan and Australia, by fostering networks and actively engaging in policy dialogues throughout the region.
Nakasone Peace Institute (NPI), founded in 1988 by former prime minister of Japan Yasuhiro Nakasone, is a policy-oriented research institute that examines in depth the important issues facing the international community from an independent standpoint and disseminates creative and constructive proposals both in Japan and internationally.
Established by NPI in 2004, the Nakasone Yasuhiro Award recognizes individuals who address global challenges and contribute to building a new international order and cooperative regional economic systems.
