TAKEDA Haruhito's photoThe Japan Academy awarded Dr. Takeda the prize for his book, Japanese Zaibatsu Holding Company in the Historical Perspective: The head office functions and internal capital market (in Japanese, University of Tokyo Press, February 2020), in which he explains how the three major zaibatsu (Mitsui, Mitsubishi, and Sumitomo) used funds raised by their headquarters from inside and outside the zaibatsu, and how the subsidiaries of these three zaibatsu were active in their business development. The book presents a dynamic image of the zaibatsu, and significantly contributed to the study of modern Japanese economic and business history, with a focus on the three major zaibatsu.
