Announcement
US tech controls toward China will advance in fits and starts as a post-midterm Congress recalibrates and wraps guardrails around the White House’s AI agenda. Even as the administration, with regular prodding from Capitol Hill, inches ahead on de-risking, Beijing holds critical leverage over inputs that could slow the largest industrial build in more than a century: the AI buildout. That tension is a source of geopolitical anxiety, but it is also forcing the messy groundwork for an emerging coalition of trusted tech partners in which Tokyo will play a central role. In this session, Rhodium Group Director Reva Goujon will examine the structural drivers of US technology policy through the remainder of the Trump administration and the implications for Japanese policymakers and firms.
