International Conference

Economic and Social Dynamics in a Changing World: Insights from spatial economics

Announcement

This conference aims to honour Masa Fujita's contributions to urban and spatial economics over the past half century, particularly in the field of economics of agglomeration, the basis of today's quantitative urban and regional economic models, where he has made significant contributions to the development of basic theory. At the same time, his research spirit, always with an eye to direct contributions to the real world, such as his ongoing involvement in the reconstruction of the Tohoku region after the Great East Japan Earthquake, has been a role model for many researchers who have followed in his footsteps. This conference brings together researchers from different generations who have been inspired by Masa's work to review the origins of contemporary urban and spatial economics and to look to the future.
