Announcement
The 2024 U.S. presidential election is truly “unprecedented”: (1) until July 21, the two leading candidates were the oldest in U.S. history (Biden is 81, Trump is 78); (2) both candidates were highly unpopular (as reflected in the term “double haters”); (3) one of the candidates (Trump) had four indictments and 34 felony convictions, and the other (Biden) had a son found guilty on 3 felony counts and is facing a trial in September for tax evasion; (4) the June 27 TV debate was disastrous for Biden; (5) on July 13, Trump faced an assassination attempt; and (6) on July 21, Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential campaign and supported Vice President Harris.
In this seminar, we will welcome Mr. Glen S. Fukushima, Vice Chairman of the U.S. Securities Investor Protection Corporation, who will provide an analysis of the key issues in the U.S. presidential election and the future direction of Japan-U.S. relations.
