Corporate Control and ESG under “New Capitalism” - Next phase of corporate governance reforms under new capitalism -

Announcement

Waseda Institute for Business and Finance (WBF), together with the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) and Waseda Institute of Advanced Study (WIAS) will co-organize the Symposium titled” Corporate Control and ESG under ’New Capitalism’ - Next phase of corporate governance reforms under new capitalism -”.
This symposium, featuring Professor Julian Franks of London Business School and Professor Marco Becht of The Free University of Brussels, who are prominent researchers in the field of corporate governance, will discuss changes in the shareholding structure and governance of Japanese companies, and the role of institutional investors and activist shareholders in comparison with the latest developments in the U.S. and Europe. Part 1 will consist of research presentations and Part 2 will be a roundtable discussion to consider future issues of corporate governance reform, which has entered a new phase, with panelists including Mr. Shiomura, Deputy Director General, Investment Strategy Department, GPIF, and Professor Tanaka of the University of Tokyo.
