JIP Database 2010

The Japan Industrial Productivity Database 2010 (JIP Database 2010) is an extended version of the JIP Database 2009 that was compiled in a collaborative effort between RIETI and Hitotsubashi University's G-COE Hi-Stat (Global COE) Program. It was developed under RIETI's "Study on Industry-Level and Firm-Level Productivity in Japan" project and Hitotsubashi University's research project entitled "Research Unit for Statistical and Empirical Analysis in the Social Sciences." The original version of the JIP Database—the ESRI/Hi-Stat JIP Database 2003—was compiled in collaboration between the Japanese Government Cabinet Office's Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) as part of its "Japan's Potential Growth" research project and the Hitotsubashi University Hi-Stat project. The database developers are grateful to ESRI for the support and cooperation it provided on the JIP Database 2010 project.

The JIP Database 2010 contains annual data on 108 sectors covering the entire Japanese economy from 1970-2007 that can be used for total factor productivity (TFP) analyses. The database includes detailed information on sectoral capital service input indices and labor service input indices. It also contains information on real capital stocks and the nominal cost of capital by type of capital and by industry, annual nominal and real input-output tables, and supplementary tables that include statistics on trade, outward FDI, and Japan's industrial structure. All real values are based on 2000 prices.
