at the conference siteFollowing the launch of the reform and liberalization policy, China's state-owned commercial banks have been developing significantly, contributing to the stabilization of the national economy. The reform of state-owned commercial banks is considered as the centerpiece of China's financial reform, and various measures have been taken to achieve that end. Yet, despite the reform, there still remain problems. With this background, The Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) co-hosted an International Symposium on the Reform of China's State-Owned Commercial Banks in cooperation with the Research Bureau of People's Bank of China (PBOC), National Center for Economic Research (NCER), Tsinghua University, and Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) , Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden.

RIETI President AOKI and PBOC Governor ZHOUResearchers and experts from China, Japan, Sweden, South Korea, Poland, Hungary and the United Sates participated in the symposium.
