RIETI Faculty Fellow Professor Sagiri Kitao’s co-authored paper wins the 2025 JER Best Article Award

We are pleased to introduce our Faculty Fellow Professor Sagiri Kitao, who leads the RIETI project "Household Heterogeneity: Individuals, families and macroeconomy" under the "Macroeconomy and Low Birthrate/Aging Population" program, along with her recent research. Among her notable works is a co-authored paper that earned the distinguished 2025 JER Best Article Award for The Japanese Economic Review, recognized as one of the most exceptional contributions of the year.

We are delighted to announce that a paper co-authored by RIETI Faculty Fellow Professor Sagiri Kitao "Medical expenditures over the life-cycle: persistent risks and insurance," has received the prestigious 2025 JER Best Article Award for The Japanese Economic Review (JER).

The Japanese Economic Review is a quarterly academic journal in English published by the Japan Economic Association. The JER Best Article Award honors the author(s) of the most outstanding paper published in the journal in a year.
