RIETI Open BBL Webinar: Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai Series

Exploring Education of the Future: Human-technology Symbiosis in the era of digital nature

Announcement

As we enter the era of "Digital Nature," where technology permeates our daily lives like air and water and the physical world merges with digital information, a significant paradigm shift is required in our views on education and learning environments. In this lecture, we welcome media artist and Associate Professor at the University of Tsukuba, Yoichi Ochiai, who will explore new learning experiences that will arise and the transformation of cognitive processes that will occur through technologies such as AI, VR, and AR. He will also discuss the importance of physicality and sensory experiences in learning, using examples from media art and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Additionally, through concrete examples of public implementation, such as the pavilion (null²) he is producing for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, he will discuss the possibilities of new educational designs that will result in optimal symbiosis between humans and technology, providing insights into future prospects.
