Overview

This project is a follow-up to the project titled "Structural Characteristics of the R&D Activities of Japanese Firms and Their Future Challenges" and implemented during RIETI's second medium-term plan. It will exploit the following: the database developed in the previous term for the aforementioned project, the ongoing large-scale surveys on the inventors in Japan, the U.S., and Europe, the Basic Survey of Business Activities, and the Patent Database so as to deepen our understanding of innovation process and to assess the existing infrastructure for its potential improvement.
